Sitelinks in Google Searches
Google defines Sitelinks as additional links that are sometimes generated from site contents in order to help users navigate the site. Google generates these sitelinks periodically & randomly from the site’s contents.
You must have seen sitelinks below searches of reputable websites, These are not handpicked by Google but are displayed via their algorithm. The criteria for getting the sitelinks for your website is very simple. Make sure your website / blog links are search friendly. Meaning, they have to be either Text based or even if they are Images, the “alt tag” should be there for Google to pick up the links.
You can find out if your website / blog has been awarded the sitelinks by 2 ways.
1. Search Google by entering “example.com”
2. Create and account with Google Webmaster Tools and add your website from the dashboard.
Having a free account with webmaster tool is a real good idea, you can upload sitemaps, check how many pages are indexed, check for errors, report a problem, request reconsideration and many others. With the links tab, you will be able to check your sitelinks. You will be given the option to block certain links if you don’t want them to be displayed.
